ABTB's 4th studio album [RAWTIDE]

Rock band ABTB is releasing their fourth studio album, [RAWTIDE], marking the significant milestone of their 10th anniversary. This album is not merely a celebration of the band's journey over the past decade; it is a work that serves as a condensation of raw and wild sounds obtained through the intense process of deconstructing and reassembling themselves, as well as a declaration heralding the beginning of a new voyage.

[RAWTIDE] delves deeply into the inner fragmentation and complex relationships with others faced by individuals living in modern society. In contemporary society, the "self" no longer remains a singular subject but is constantly fragmented in the process of managing, harmonizing, and directing itself. This album meticulously records the structure of that very fragmentation by breaking it down into a total of eight fragments (tracks). It weaves a musical narrative into the gaps between dreams and reality, and between desire and ideals, that arise from separating emotions to endure wounds and summoning another self for survival. Going beyond a simple confession of emotion, it is a record of relationships that sharply captures the inner silence and screams that remain as residues, ultimately unintegrated.

In the production method used to realize the music, they also adopted a strictly straightforward approach. Boldly departing from the conventional recording method of matching performances to fixed tempos and metronomes, they surrendered themselves to the most natural flow required by the songs. Based on simultaneous recording where all members gathered in the studio to breathe and play together at the same time, they minimized artificial processing and correction to fully capture the organic energy inherent to the band ensemble and the vibrancy of the live performance. The meticulous post-production layering built upon the raw sound further solidly supports the album's auditory density.

This album marks the first full-length work featuring the official addition of new vocalist Lee Do-kyung (Lee Yoon-chan). His clear and delicate voice adds new depth to the heavy hard rock texture of ABTB's existing sound, completing the band's new musical persona. Furthermore, the band has attempted unconventional and bold experiments that break genre molds, such as guitarist Kwak Sang-kyu personally performing cynical-toned rap parts depending on the character of the song.

From the planning, composition, and arrangement of the songs to the mixing work led by guitarist Hwang Rin, the entire production process was completed as 100% in-house production by the band without any external intervention. The final perfection of the sound was secured by undergoing a sophisticated external mastering process on top of the results of their uncompromising self-reliance. Born from the combination of 10 years of experience, uncompromising persistence, and a new voice, [RAWTIDE] will present the purest and wildest torrent that band production can reach to the Korean rock scene in 2026.

ABTB 정규 4집 [RAWTIDE]

록 밴드 ABTB가 데뷔 10주년이라는 중대한 이정표를 기점으로 정규 4집 앨범 [RAWTIDE]를 발매한다. 이번 앨범은 밴드가 걸어온 지난 10년의 궤적을 단순하게 기념하는 데 그치지 않고, 스스로를 해체하고 재조립하는 치열한 과정을 통해 얻어낸 원초적이고 야생적인 사운드의 응축이자 새로운 항해의 시작을 알리는 선언과도 같은 작업물이다.

[RAWTIDE]는 현대 사회를 살아가는 개인이 마주하는 내면의 분열과 타자와의 복잡한 관계성을 심도 있게 다룬다. 현대 사회에서 '나'는 더 이상 단일한 주체로 머무르지 않으며, 스스로를 관리하고 조율하고 연출하는 과정에서 끊임없이 분리된다. 이번 앨범은 바로 그 분리의 구조를 총 8개의 파편(트랙)으로 쪼개어 세밀하게 기록했다. 상처를 견디기 위해 감정을 분리하고, 생존을 위해 또 다른 자아를 호출하며 발생하는 꿈과 현실, 욕망과 이상 사이의 간극을 음악적 서사로 엮어냈다. 감정의 단순한 고백을 넘어, 끝내 통합되지 않고 잔여물로 남은 내면의 침묵과 절규를 날카롭게 포착한 관계의 기록이다.

음악을 구현하는 프로덕션 방식에서도 철저히 정공법을 택했다. 정형화된 템포와 메트로놈에 연주를 맞추는 일반적인 레코딩 방식에서 과감히 탈피하여, 곡이 요구하는 가장 자연스러운 흐름에 몸을 맡겼다. 전 멤버가 스튜디오에 모여 동시에 호흡하고 합주하는 동시 녹음 방식을 기반으로, 인위적인 가공과 보정을 최소화하여 밴드 앙상블 본연의 유기적인 에너지와 현장의 생동감을 고스란히 담아냈다. 날것의 사운드 위로 정교하게 쌓아 올린 후반 레이어링 작업은 음반의 청각적 밀도를 한층 더 단단하게 지탱한다.

이번 앨범은 새 보컬리스트 이도경(이윤찬)이 정식 합류하여 보컬 마이크를 잡은 첫 정규 작이다. 그의 선명하고 섬세한 목소리는 기존 ABTB가 지닌 묵직한 하드록의 질감 위에 새로운 깊이를 더하며 밴드의 새로운 음악적 페르소나를 완성했다. 또한, 곡의 성격에 따라 기타리스트 곽상규가 직접 냉소적인 톤의 랩 파트를 소화하는 등 장르적 틀을 깨는 변칙적이고 과감한 실험을 시도했다.

곡의 기획과 작곡, 편곡은 물론, 기타리스트 황린이 주도한 믹싱 작업에 이르기까지 제작의 전 과정은 외부의 개입 없이 100% 밴드 자체 프로덕션으로 완결되었다. 타협 없이 밀어붙인 자생력의 결과물 위에 정교한 외부 마스터링 과정을 거치며 사운드의 최종적인 완성도를 확보했다. 결성 10년의 관록과 타협 없는 고집, 그리고 새로운 목소리가 결합하여 탄생한 [RAWTIDE]는 2026년 한국 록 신에 밴드 프로덕션이 도달할 수 있는 가장 순수하고 거친 격류를 선사할 것이다.
