리이슈 음반 발매에 힘입어
1994년에 필라델피아에서 레코딩된
아침2집 발매 (미발매 음반) 를 결정하게 되었고
이번에 리패키지 CD로 발매된다.
2020년 10월부터 12월까지 음원으로 출시된
'가을빛 추억', '너를 사랑했던걸',
'낯선곳으로의 여행'을 비롯하여 총8곡이 수록된다.
필라델피아,뉴욕의 유명 뮤지션들이 세션으로 참여한 2집은 1집보다 더욱 세련된 편곡과 사운드로 완성된 음반이다.

아침 2집, 숨겨진 음악을 27년 만에 세상 밖으로 전하다
아침은 음악을 사랑하는 사람들이 수면 아래서 위로 조금씩 끌어올린 한국 대중음악계의 숨은
역사를 가진 그룹이다. 1992년, 그리고 2021년 기적처럼 선물처럼 이들의 두 번째 앨범이 세상
밖으로 나온다.

아침은 '발굴'의 스토리를 가진 그룹이다. 1992년, 이들은 음악가들 사이에서 명반으로 오래도록
회자되는 1집 Land of Morning Calm을 발표했다. 팝 음악과 재즈에 골고루 영향을 받은
세련된 작법과 특유의 청량한 감성은 시대를 초월한 음악이었다. 시간이 흐른 뒤 2020년,
시티팝의 유행과 함께 젊은 세대가 '아침'이란 전설의 이름을 다시 불러내기에 이르렀다. 아침의
앨범은 29년 만에 그렇게 세상에 다시 나왔다. 발굴의 기적은 끝이 아니었다. 유적지 부근에
숨겨져 있던 또 다른 보물이 행운처럼 우연히 발견되는 것처럼 아침이 세상에 내놓지 못한
음악이 더 있었던 것.
작곡가이자 프로듀서로 활약해온 멤버 유정연은 1994년 필라델피아로 건너가 홀로 2집을
만들었다. 그가 모닝스타 레코딩 스튜디오에서 제프리 존슨, 찰스 팸브로우 등 세계적인
연주가들과 함께 음반을 녹음한 과정에는 음악 다큐멘터리를 만들어도 될 만큼 흥미진진한
비하인드 스토리가 담겨있다. 그러나 안타깝게도 이 앨범은 음반사의 도산으로 비운의 운명을
맞이했다. 이후 유정연은 장혜진, 신승훈, 이소라, 이문세, 김현철, 핑클, 해이 등을 위해 한국
대중음악계에 기억에 남을 만한 곡을 만드는 작곡가로 활약했고, 2009년에는 탱고 음악을 더
깊게 탐구하고자 아르헨티나로 이주했다. 그에겐 탱고 바이올리니스트로 활동하며 만든
'안토니오 유'라는 예명이 있다. 유정연 그리고 아침의 음악 서사는 극적이며 동시에 방대하다.
1994년 조용히 잠들어있던 앨범이 이제서야 세상 밖으로 나올 수 있는 건 한 음악가의 집념과 그
음악의 진가를 알아본 시대의 흐름이 만든 감동적 서사다. 기승전결이 확실한 유정연의 음악은
그 자체가 한편의 드라마다. 시간을 초월한 아침의 음악 여정은 클라이맥스 가까이에 있다.
유정연이 이 서사의 사려 깊은 해설가가 되어 그동안 못다 한 이야기를 시작한다.
