Rather than the achievement of establishing rock in the mainstream and system of TV, the sweat and pain of childbirth he had shed to perfect the song and improve the artistry of the album always loomed 'fearfully'. Nevertheless, he remembered the fate of a musician that he had to face again, and while questioning and engraving the relationship between music and its expression during his long broadcast career, he waited for the days when "expression would be fun."

The Songgolmae concert from 2022, which was organized by reuniting with Koo Chang-mo, has fueled the courage to make music and reminded us that there are no walls or fences in front of age. Bae Cheol-soo's album, which has returned, does not have the usual desire for top rankings, awards, or box office success. He just wanted to recreate the rock and roll he played and sang during his days at Runway and Songgolmae and the musical identity created by it. Even after 40 years, he is still a 'straight rock and roll' purist and an icon who has secured a unique area in this regard. Starting with 'I Lived Without Knowing the World', 'I Loved from the Beginning', 'It Was Not a Long Time', and 'One Ray of Light' are still exciting, and the vocals of 'Everything in the World' in particular are Myeong-gyeong's special. Amazing.

He gave strength and freedom to the rock and roll soul again. He is proud of leading the confrontation between age and rock and roll, and finally reviving the emotions buried deep in the heart. 자신에게 생명의 터전이라 할 음악 실연(實演)과 그는 오랫동안 절연했다. 엄연히 라디오 디스크자키일 따름이지, 뮤지션 혹은 밴드의 일원이라는 자기소개는 애써 사양해 왔다. TV라는 주류와 제도에 록의 안착을 일궈낸 성과보다는 곡의 완성도와 앨범 예술성 제고를 위해 흘린 비지땀과 산고(産苦)가 늘 '무섭게' 아른거렸다. 그럼에도 그는 끝내는 다시 감당할 수밖에 없는 음악가의 숙명을 기억했고 긴 방송활동 속에서 음악과 그 드러냄의 관계를 되묻고 새기면서 “표현이 재밌을” 나날을 기다렸다.

구창모와 재결집해 엮어낸 2022년부터의 송골매 콘서트는 음악 하는 것에 용기를 부채질했고 나이 앞에 담과 벽이 있을 리 없음을 일깨웠다. 돌아온 배철수의 이 앨범에는 통상적인 정상 등극, 수상, 흥행 성공에의 욕망이 붙어있지 않다. 활주로와 송골매 시절 연주하고 노래했던 로큰롤과 그에 의한 음악 정체성을 재현하고 싶었을 뿐이다. 40년이 흘렀어도 역시 그는 '스트레이트 로큰롤' 순혈주의자이며 이에 관한 한 독창적 영역을 확보한 아이콘임을 다시금 절감한다. 시작점인 '세상 모르고 살았노라'를 비롯해 '처음부터 사랑했네', '길지 않은 시간이었네', '한줄기 빛'은 여전히 호기롭고 특히 '세상만사'의 보컬은 명경의 특급이다.놀랍다.
