On the morning of March 6, 25 years ago, when mixing was almost finished,
Dedicated to two (Seoul-style) albums
In 1995, I held my first performance in front of Hongik University. Thirty years have passed. The weather has changed, and so have I. In 2025, I will release two new full-length albums: (Seoul-style Daytime Side) and (Seoul-style Night Side).

After completing the recording of the tracks for each album, I've been wrestling with them for the past two years as a producer and mixing engineer. However, as a musician, I've been unable to fully express my "skill, sensibility, and heart" in the final tracks. This project has forced me to acknowledge my limitations and has made me determined to approach new work with more composure, joy, sincerity, and health.

Born and raised in Seoul, I wanted to record what I've experienced, felt, and thought, using the "skills, sensibilities, and heart" I possess, in a Seoul-style "audible" format. I hope these two albums will allow you to experience a different side of Seoul.

I would like to express my gratitude to my fellow musicians and those who worked with me on this album.

It's thrilling to live in the same era as Baek Hyun-jin. It's truly a luxury to even be able to speak the same language and live in the same city.

Baek Hyun-jin is an artist whose work encompasses everything seen and heard. The megalopolis that is Seoul has embraced and nurtured Baek Hyun-jin. Having performed his first show in front of Hongik University in 1995, Baek Hyun-jin has spent the past 30 years documenting Seoul through the lens of what he perceives.

In particular, as the album's producer and mixing engineer, he not only engaged in what might be called artistic and conceptual creative activities, but also, as a technician, added his unwavering commitment to sound. As a musician, he literally captured everything he could, from lyrics and melody to the plating that encapsulates them.

With the friendly distinction of [Seoul-style day side] and [Seoul-style night side], Baek Hyun-jin lends his eyes and ears to the listeners.
We can experience Seoul as seen and heard through Baek Hyun-jin's eyes and ears.

Seoul Light can experience Seoul style in its own way, and global citizens can experience Seoul style in their own way.

This is my third time writing an introduction to his work. Why do they keep asking me to do it? I find myself wondering if I've been too diligent in my writing. Honestly, I'm always happy to do it, but I'm reluctantly starting this introduction to [Seoul Style].

[Seoul Style] is a project divided into two sides, day and night, and the music presented allows for a diverse spectrum of experiences beyond that time difference. I believe this spectrum best represents Baek Hyun-jin, who at times resembles a fantastical monkey, while at other times, he exhibits a variety of expressions, such as the lonely sigh of a cigarette in a back alley.

The composition's repetitive, unexciting narrative evokes a certain sense of longing. It felt like that during the production of "Your Hands," by Bangbaek, which I participated in. His somewhat urbane yet somewhat sordid memories seem to be distorted and repeated. Now, I find myself lost in thoughts of his partner, who has now left us far behind.

While the daytime side is filled with familiar songs previously released through concert halls, the night side features pitch-black music that makes it difficult to gauge distance. Perhaps, from now on, as we stumble along, our hands might accidentally touch. Whether that happens or not.

In a corner of the kitchen, there's a bottle of unfinished Cheongju. I pour myself a slow glass and set it against the sunny window, gazing intently at it. I anticipate that "Seoul Style" will be one of the best pieces I've enjoyed this year.

On the morning of March 6, 25 years ago, when mixing was almost finished,

In 1995, I held my first performance in front of Hongik University. Thirty years have passed. The weather has changed, and so have I. In 2025, I will release two new full-length albums: (Seoul-style Daytime Side) and (Seoul-style Night Side).

After completing the recording of the tracks for each album, I've been wrestling with them for the past two years as a producer and mixing engineer. However, as a musician, I've been unable to fully express my "skill, sensibility, and heart" in the final tracks. This project has forced me to acknowledge my limitations and has made me determined to approach new work with more composure, joy, sincerity, and health.

Born and raised in Seoul, I wanted to record what I've experienced, felt, and thought, using the "skills, sensibilities, and heart" I possess, in a Seoul-style "audible" format. I hope these two albums will allow you to experience a different side of Seoul.

It's thrilling to live in the same era as Baek Hyun-jin. It's truly a luxury to even be able to speak the same language and live in the same city.

Baek Hyun-jin is an artist whose work encompasses everything seen and heard. The megalopolis that is Seoul has embraced and nurtured Baek Hyun-jin. Having performed his first show in front of Hongik University in 1995, Baek Hyun-jin has spent the past 30 years documenting Seoul through the lens of what he perceives.

In particular, as the album's producer and mixing engineer, he not only engaged in what might be called artistic and conceptual creative activities, but also, as a technician, added his unwavering commitment to sound. As a musician, he literally captured everything he could, from lyrics and melody to the plating that encapsulates them.

With the friendly distinction of [Seoul-style day side] and [Seoul-style night side], Baek Hyun-jin lends his eyes and ears to the listeners.
We can experience Seoul as seen and heard through Baek Hyun-jin's eyes and ears.

This is my third time writing an introduction to his work. Why do they keep asking me to do it? I find myself wondering if I've been too diligent in my writing. Honestly, I'm always happy to do it, but I'm reluctantly starting this introduction to [Seoul Style].

[Seoul Style] is a project divided into two sides, day and night, and the music presented allows for a diverse spectrum of experiences beyond that time difference. I believe this spectrum best represents Baek Hyun-jin, who at times resembles a fantastical monkey, while at other times, he exhibits a variety of expressions, such as the lonely sigh of a cigarette in a back alley.

The composition's repetitive, unexciting narrative evokes a certain sense of longing. It felt like that during the production of "Your Hands," by Bangbaek, which I participated in. His somewhat urbane yet somewhat sordid memories seem to be distorted and repeated. Now, I find myself lost in thoughts of his partner, who has now left us far behind.

While the daytime side is filled with familiar songs previously released through concert halls, the night side features pitch-black music that makes it difficult to gauge distance. Perhaps, from now on, as we stumble along, our hands might accidentally touch. Whether that happens or not.

In a corner of the kitchen, there's a bottle of unfinished Cheongju. I pour myself a slow glass and set it against the sunny window, gazing intently at it. I anticipate that "Seoul Style" will be one of the best pieces I've enjoyed this year.

This is my third time writing an introduction to his work. Why do they keep asking me to do it? I find myself wondering if I've been too diligent in my writing. Honestly, I'm always happy to do it, but I'm reluctantly starting this introduction to [Seoul Style].

[Seoul Style] is a project divided into two sides, day and night, and the music presented allows for a diverse spectrum of experiences beyond that time difference. I believe this spectrum best represents Baek Hyun-jin, who at times resembles a fantastical monkey, while at other times, he exhibits a variety of expressions, such as the lonely sigh of a cigarette in a back alley.

The composition's repetitive, unexciting narrative evokes a certain sense of longing. It felt like that during the production of "Your Hands," by Bangbaek, which I participated in. His somewhat urbane yet somewhat sordid memories seem to be distorted and repeated. Now, I find myself lost in thoughts of his partner, who has now left us far behind.

While the daytime side is filled with familiar songs previously released through concert halls, the night side features pitch-black music that makes it difficult to gauge distance. Perhaps, from now on, as we stumble along, our hands might accidentally touch. Whether that happens or not.

In a corner of the kitchen, there's a bottle of unfinished Cheongju. I pour myself a slow glass and set it against the sunny window, gazing intently at it. I anticipate that "Seoul Style" will be one of the best pieces I've enjoyed this year.
