'IU's Third Remake Album [Flower Bookmark Set]

1. Red sneakers

I listened to this song a lot as a child, thinking that Park Hye-kyung's voice was like magic powder that made my mood sparkle.
When I listen to this song, I want to tie my shoelaces again and run out of breath. A pleasant motivation that I don't know where comes from, wells up like bubbles from a bottle of champagne that has just been opened. I placed it as the first track with the hope that many people will welcome this spring with this feeling.

Lee Jin-ah added her signature refreshing and lively charm.

2. Never Ending Story
Original song: Resurrection / Lyrics, composition: Kim Tae-won / Arrangement: Seo Dong-hwan

There are some famous songs that have become so familiar to our memories that we no longer bother to chew on their melodies and lyrics. I think 'Never Ending Story' is a prime example of this. This melody and these lyrics, which are both goosebump-inducing when savored separately, are even included in one song. It's a new experience, but I was ecstatic every time I heard it, and I coughed every time I sang it.

Based on composer Seo Dong-hwan's specialty of piano and string arrangement, we reinterpreted it as a memory that is a bit closer to dreaminess.

3. October 4th
Original song: Seo Taiji / Lyrics, composition: Seo Taiji / Arrangement: Cloud

I wanted to capture the beautiful emotions unique to that era, which can be felt from the title '1004', in [Flower Bookmark Set]. I interpreted 'that girl' in the introduction lyrics as me from the distant past who is now like a stranger, and sang while thinking of it as a story that my present self is telling my past self. In the chorus lyrics, I pronounced the line 'because you are not by my side' somewhere between 'me' and 'your' to add ambiguity.
I wanted to create a mysterious feeling in the intro with a piano pattern that flows and sparkles like the reflection of light on waves, and I wanted to use some effectors on the vocals to create an unrealistic sense of space while fully expressing the lyricism of the original song.

This track showcases Gureum's dazzling imagination, including the synergy of instruments and unique use of chorus.

4. Last Scene (Feat. Wonstein)
Original song: Roller Coaster / Lyrics, composition: Jo Won-seon / Arrangement: SUMIN, Slom, Gu Young-jun

I think that if I were to personify the 'Bonsae' in 'Bonsae Nanda', which is a modern expression, it would be the appearance of the seniors of Roller Coaster. I tried to express 'indifferent simplicity', which is one of the virtues of Roller Coaster music. I thought it would be fun if a new voice appeared in the second verse, which is different from the original song, so after much thought, I asked Wonstein, who is famous for his ecstatic tone, to feature.

I think that the 'neat hipness' of Sumin and Slom has been exquisitely blended. I am deeply grateful to senior Lee Sang-soon who readily joined us for a new performance.

5. Beauty (Feat. Balming Tiger)

The dictionary defines beauty as 'a beautiful person. Mainly a woman with a beautiful face or body.' However, as time goes by, I think that more and more diverse standards of beauty are changing society. I started with the idea that 'if beauty in this era is not defined by gender and appearance, wouldn't it be closer to its true meaning?'
Those who were preparing the music together agreed with the idea that it could be interpreted as a story about narcissism and cute self-deprecation, where you look at yourself in the mirror once, twice, and keep looking at yourself again, saying, "Do I like how I look today?"

It seems like a very interesting version of a beauty was born through the meeting of the one and only artist of that era, Mr. Shin Jung-hyun, and the most influential hipster of the present age, Balming Tiger.

6. The Dream of a Square

I think it's a song that has as much symbolic meaning to adults of a certain era as 'Baby Shark' is today. When I was young, I just thought it was a cheerful and fun song, but as an adult, the lyrics sound somehow sad and new. I found the direction of the arrangement from the idea of 'what if I squared off all the sounds except for the vocals?'

Composer Kim Je-hwi and Moon Ji-hyeok, who are as knowledgeable about games as they are about music, have demonstrated their skills by projecting their own lives into the song.

'아이유' 세 번째 리메이크 앨범 [꽃갈피 셋]

1. 빨간 운동화

박혜경 선배님의 목소리는 기분을 반짝거리게 해주는 마법 가루 같다고 생각하며 어린 시절 아주 많이 들었던 곡입니다.
이 곡을 들으면 다시 신발 끈을 고쳐 묶고 숨이 턱까지 오르게 내달리고 싶어집니다. 어디에서 오는 건지 모르겠는 기분 좋은 의욕이, 방금 막 뚜껑을 딴 샴페인의 거품처럼 샘솟습니다. 많은 분들이 이런 기분으로 이 봄을 맞이하셨으면 좋겠다는 마음으로 1번 트랙에 배치했습니다.

이진아 님께서 특유의 청량함과 재기 발랄함을 더해주셨습니다.

2. Never Ending Story

우리 기억에 너무 습관처럼 익숙해진 나머지 이제는 그 멜로디와 가사를 구태여 곱씹지 않게 되는 명곡들이 있습니다. 'Never Ending Story'가 그 대표적인 예시가 아닐까 생각합니다. 따로 음미해도 각각 소름 돋게 좋은 이 멜로디와 이 가삿말이 심지어 한 곡에 담겨있다니. 새삼스럽지만 들을 때마다 황홀했고 부를 때마다 기침했습니다.

서동환 작곡가의 주특기인 피아노, 스트링 편곡을 기반으로 조금 더 몽환에 가까운 추억으로 재해석해 보았습니다.

'1004'라는 제목에서부터 느껴지는 그 시절 특유의 아름다운 감성을 [꽃갈피 셋]에 담고 싶었습니다. 도입부 가사에 등장하는 '그 소녀'를, 이제는 타인과도 같은 먼 과거의 저라고 해석하고 지금의 제가 과거의 저에게 건네는 이야기라고 생각하면서 불렀습니다. 후렴구 가사 중 '네가 내 곁에 없기에'라는 구간의 발음을 '내'와 '네'사이의 어딘가로 발음해 중의성을 더했습니다.
물결의 빛 반사처럼 반짝이며 흐르는 피아노 패턴으로 인트로의 신비감을, 보컬에는 약간의 이펙터를 사용해 비현실적인 공간감을 만들면서도 원곡의 서정성을 온전히 표현하고자 했습니다.

악기들의 시너지, 독특한 코러스 활용 등 구름 님의 눈부신 상상력이 빛나는 트랙입니다.

4. Last Scene (Feat. 원슈타인)

저는 요즘 식의 표현 중 '본새난다'의 '본새'를 의인화한다면 그건 바로 롤러코스터 선배님들의 모습일 거라고 생각합니다. 롤러코스터 음악의 미덕 중 하나인 '무심한 듯 간결함'을 표현하려 노력했습니다. 원곡과 다르게 2절에 새로운 목소리가 등장하면 재밌을 것 같아서 고민 끝에 황홀한 음색으로 유명하신 원슈타인 님께 피처링을 요청했습니다.

수민 님과 슬롬 님만의 '단정한 힙함'이 절묘하게 녹아들었다고 생각합니다. 흔쾌히 새로운 연주로 함께해 주신 이상순 선배님께 깊이 감사합니다.

거울을 보다가 '오늘 내 모습 마음에 드는데?'하며 자기 모습을 한 번 보고 두 번 보고 자꾸만 다시 보는 자기애, 귀여운 자뻑에 관한 이야기로 해석해 보면 어떻겠냐는 의견에 함께 음악을 준비하던 분들께서 호응해 주셨습니다.

신중현 선생님이라는 그 시대의 유일무이한 아티스트와 바밍타이거라는 현시대의 가장 영향력 있는 힙스터들이 만나 매우 재밌는 버전의 미인이 탄생한 것 같습니다.

6. 네모의 꿈

어떤 시대의 어른이들에게는 지금의 '아기 상어'만큼의 상징성이 있는 곡이라고 생각합니다. 어릴 때는 그저 경쾌하고 재밌는 곡인 줄만 알았는데 어른이 되고 나니 그 가사가 어쩐지 슬프도록 새롭게 들립니다. '보컬을 제외한 모든 사운드를 다 네모화 하면 어떨까?'라는 아이디어에서 편곡의 방향성을 찾았습니다.

음악만큼이나 게임에 일가견이 있는 김제휘 작곡가와 문지혁 님이 본인들의 삶을 투영해 실력 발휘를 해주셨습니다.
