Kino's second EP [EVERYBODY'S GUILTY, BUT NO ONE'S TO BLAME]

"There's no fantasy or happiness in this album. Only anxiety, depression, greed, and anger. Of course, my life isn't made up of only these things. But it's another side of me that's always been there, and I've never once revealed it to anyone. It's a confession to those who think I'm a beautiful flower garden. 'Can you love someone like Kang Hyung-gu?'"

For the past 15 years, rather than delving into right and wrong myself, I've tried to reshape myself to fit the standards set by others. Of course, it wasn't a lie. It's true that Kino is still Kang Hyung-gu, and I, who pursues justice and beauty, am still Kang Hyung-gu. But there's always been a "Kang Hyung-gu" who judges me according to what people want, a hidden "Kang Hyung-gu."

This isn't just about being a K-pop idol. I'm an ordinary twenty-something, eager to let my imagination run wild and have fun. Behind the happy, gentle, and neat image portrayed in the media, there's also a side of me that's anxious, depressed, and sometimes instinctual. The moment I accepted that side of myself, I loved myself even more.

"That's okay. I might be disappointed in you, but there are many people who can love you, even though you're like that."

For me, at twenty-seven, being honest is a challenge and requires a lot of courage.
I've been lying to myself, denying the pain, the hardship, the frustration, the joy, the desire—I've felt every moment, and I've been hiding my shameful inner feelings behind me, mustering up the courage to reveal them. It stems from a yearning for freedom, a desire to be loved not as the prettily packaged "Kino," but as "Kang Hyung-gu." It's the first step toward liberation from the comfort zone where I've been surrounded by gazes and controlled.

"이번 앨범에 환상이나 행복은 없습니다. 오로지 불안, 우울함, 탐욕, 분노만이 존재하죠. 당연히 제 삶이 이것들로만 이루어져 있진 않아요. 하지만 늘 존재해 왔고, 단 한 번도 사람들 앞에서 꺼내본 적 없는 또 다른 제 자아예요. 내가 아름다운 꽃밭인 줄로만 아는 사람들에게 하는 고해성사입니다. '당신은 이런 강형구까지 사랑할 수 있나요?'"

지난 15년간, 옳고 그름을 스스로 고민하기보단 남들이 정한 기준에 맞춰 '나'를 바꾸려고 해왔다. 물론 거짓은 아니었다. 지금까지의 키노도 강형구고, 정의를 쫓으며 아름다움을 추구하는 나도 강형구임은 분명한 사실이지만, 사람들이 원하는 대로 나를 재단하며, 숨겨왔던 '강형구'도 늘 존재했다.

단순히 케이팝 아이돌에 그치는 이야기는 아니다. 나는 평범한 20대이고, 마음껏 상상하고 마음껏 즐기고 싶어 한다. 미디어에서 보여줬던 행복한 감정으로 가득 찬, 젠틀하고 단정한 모습의 이면엔 불안하고 우울하며, 때로는 본능을 찾는 나 또한 존재한다. 그런 나를 나로서 인정하게 된 순간, 나는 나를 더 사랑하게 되었다.

스물일곱 살의 나에게 솔직함은 도전이며 큰 용기를 요한다.
아프다고, 힘들다고, 짜증 난다고, 즐겁다고, 원한다고- 순간순간 느꼈던 것들을 아니라고 자신마저 속이며 뒤에 숨겨뒀던 부끄러운 속마음을 용기 내어 꺼내본다. 자유에 대한 갈망이며, 예쁘게 포장된 '키노'가 아닌 '강형구'로서 사랑받고자 하는 욕심에서 비롯된다. 시선들에 둘러싸여 스스로를 통제해 왔던 안전지대에서의 해방, 그 첫 발걸음이다.
