This is Potatoy Cha Sunjong. To me, music has always been like a toy for the mind. 'Toy' was a playground that quenched my infinite curiosity and a precious toy of my own. Even in the shaky moments of life, music was like a precious friend that supported me. Although it is a toy, for me creation was not a simple choice, but an inevitable way of existence. I couldn't bear not to express my deep inner feelings and thoughts through music, not for the benefit of others.

This album, under the name ‘Potatoy’, is a work that delicately captures my deepest emotions and memories from the time I was creating the songs. At times, I suffered from being trapped in the image I had created for myself, and I was overcome by a suffocating inferiority complex. There were times when I wanted to disappear from the world alone. But despite this, in the end, I longed for warm comfort and realized once again the value of life with loved ones.

These songs were like a long journey for me. This album, which I prepared with great care over a long period of time, is a source of pride for me and is like a mirror that shows me in my truest self. I am grateful that I can sing as myself and communicate with you through music that is most authentic to me.

포타토이 차순종입니다. 저에게 음악은 언제나 마음의 장난감과도 같았습니다. 'Toy'는 저의 무한한 탐구심을 해소해주는 놀이터이자, 저만의 소중한 장난감이었습니다. 흔들리는 삶의 순간들에서도, 음악은 저를 지탱해주는 소중한 친구와도 같았지요. 장난감이기도 하지만, 저에게 창작이란 단순한 선택이 아닌, 필연적인 존재의 방식이었습니다. 남을 위해가 아닌, 내면의 깊은 감정과 생각들을 음악으로 풀어내지 않고서는 견딜 수 없었습니다.

이 앨범은 '포타토이'라는 이름 아래, 제가 곡을 만들어 나갈 당시의 가장 깊은 감정과 기억들을 섬세하게 담아낸 작품입니다. 때때로 제가 스스로 만든 이미지에 갇히어 괴로워하며, 숨 막히는 열등감에 휩싸이기도 했습니다. 세상에서 혼자 사라져버리고 싶은 생각이 들기도 했지요. 하지만 그럼에도 불구하고, 결국 저는 따뜻한 위로를 갈망하고, 사랑하는 이들과 함께 하는 삶의 가치를 다시금 깨닫게 되었습니다.

이 음악들은 제게 있어 한 편의 긴 여정과도 같았습니다. 오랜 시간 동안 심혈을 기울여 준비한 이 앨범은 저에게는 자부심의 근원이자, 저 자신을 가장 있는 그대로 보여주는 거울과도 같습니다. 제가 가장 저답게 노래하고, 가장 나다운 음악을 통해 여러분과 소통할 수 있게 되어 감사합니다.
