“My love has always been like that. It's risky and anxious like it's about to break, or I love myself alone. My sculptures have always been incomplete. They were always scattered like pieces of a puzzle that were never completed. It was never filled, so I always longed for it. I gave up because it was not something that could be filled. All I had to do was head straight, but I always went around the crooked road. It was twisted and hurt.”
<Fragment> is the first step of Ga-Won Shim, an artist who won the Silver Award for “I'm A Musician” in the Chungnam Music Creation Center's record production support project.
Shim Ga-won is an artist who uses metaphorical expressions to convey emotions in a turn, rather than clearly revealing her emotions as they are. But that doesn't mean that it's not general or abstract. If you continue to meditate on his lyrics, you can feel the weight of emotions that are deeper than straight lines. In this album <Fragment>, Shim Ga-won portrays the emotional lines of the broken pieces of love in a calm yet resigned tone.

“내 사랑은 늘 그랬다. 깨질 것 같이 아슬아슬하고 불안하거나 아니면 나 혼자 사랑하거나. 나의 조각은 늘 불완전했다. 한번도 완성된 적이 없는 퍼즐 조각처럼 그렇게 늘 흩어져 있었다. 채워진 적이 없어 늘 갈구했다. 채워질 수 있는 것이 아니기에 체념했다. 똑바르게 향하면 되는 걸 늘 굽은 길을 돌아 갔다. 비틀려 있고 아팠다.”
<조각 Fragment>는 충남음악창작소 음반제작지원사업 “I'm A Musician” 은상에 빛나는 아티스트 심가원의 첫 발걸음이 되는 음반으로, 심가원이 앨범 전 제작 과정에 참여하여 만들었다.
심가원은 자신의 감정을 있는 그대로 선명하게 드러내기 보다는 비유적인 표현들을 사용하여 한번 돌아서 감정을 전달하는 아티스트이다. 하지만 그렇다고 해서 절대 두루뭉술하거나 추상적으로 표현하지는 않는다. 그의 가사를 계속 곱씹다 보면 오히려 직선적인 화법보다도 더 깊이 있는 감정의 무게를 느낄 수 있다. 본 앨범 <조각 Fragment>에서 심가원은 담담하면서도 체념한 듯한 어조로 깨진 사랑의 조각들에 대한 감정선을 그려냈다.
