I don't know what the exact meaning of 'summer snow' is or how they got that name. Still, you can see what the word ‘summer snow’ feels like when you say it. So to speak, it is like an ‘image’. Summer Snow expresses the images of romance, youth, and lingering emotions that summer embraces through writing and singing. The first summer snow song I heard, ‘When the South Wind Blows,’ was like that. This feeling of using the wind as an excuse to say hello is in line with the emotion of summer. Summer Snow has gradually built up its songs, expanding and deepening its emotions and images little by little. Farewell footsteps, when the south wind blows, sunbeds, mail at night, let’s go to Gangneung… . I feel like I can fully enjoy the music of Summer Snow just by reading the song title. Summer Snow’s 1st full-length album [Summer, Moon]

A story of two people facing the pain of a breakup and moving on.

Summer Snow's first full-length album is reminiscent of a road movie. Their story, which begins with a breakup, centers on the relationship between Summer and the Moon through twelve tracks, comforting each other's wounds and moving together toward self-growth.

The story of the album begins with a summer breakup. (Track 1 ‘Breakup Footprints’) Summer is a time spent facing separation. (Track 2 ‘When the South Wind Blows’) Dal meets Summer at a cafe in Seoul after returning from India and listens to her story. (Track 3 ‘Summer Snow’) The moon tells Yeoreum about his current relationship. (Nos. 4 and 5, tracks ‘Kiss on the Hill in Seongbuk-dong’ and ‘My Boyfriend’) Dal hopes that the current relationship and feelings can last as long as possible. (Track 6 ‘SUNBED’) Some time passed and the time of separation came for Dal as well. The moon takes time to reflect on itself. (Track 7 ‘Night Mail’) When Summer hears about Moon, she thinks of her. (Track 8 ‘Moon, Moon’) On a sleepless night, summer calls the moon. (Track 9 ‘Lullaby for the Moon’) Summer takes the moon across the deep night and heads to Gangneung. (Track 10 ‘Let’s go to Gangneung’) As dawn deepens, on the beach of Gangneung, summer and the moon sing a prayer to the names they can no longer call. Summer and Moon are fictional characters created from the stories of friends, lovers, acquaintances, and colleagues. The story was created by focusing on the common experiences they had in life in the big city of Seoul. Who will those who listen to the album think of? I'm also curious as to which character, Summer or Moon, will be imitated.

I hope that those who listen to this album will live solid moments where they can willingly wish goodbye to past names, rather than a time of resignation and thinking, 'I'll still live on.'

여름눈'의 정확한 의미가 무엇인지, 어떻게 그런 이름을 지었는지 알지 못한다. 그래도 '여름눈'이란 낱말을 보고, 입으로 뱉을 때의 느낌이 어떤 것인지는 알 수 있다. 말하자면 '이미지' 같은 것이다. 여름이 품고 있는 낭만, 청춘, 여운의 이미지를 여름눈은 글로 쓰고 노래로 표현한다. 내가 처음 들은 여름눈의 노래 '남쪽 바람이 불면'이 그랬다. 바람을 핑계로 안부를 전한다는 이 마음은 여름의 정서와 맞닿아있다. 여름눈은 그 정서와 이미지를 조금씩 확장하고 깊게 하면서 차곡차곡 노래를 쌓아왔다. 이별발자국, 남쪽 바람이 불면, 선베드, 밤의 우편물, 강릉으로 가자…. 그저 노래 제목을 읽는 것만으로도 여름눈의 음악을 온전히 만끽한 것 같다. 자신들의 지향점을 명확히 알고 이를 노랫말로, 사운드로 표현했다. 이별의 상처를 마주하고 나아가는 두 사람의 이야기

여름눈의 첫 번째 정규 앨범은 한 편의 로드무비를 연상시킨다. 이별로 시작되는 이들의 이야기는 열두 개의 트랙을 통해 여름과 달의 관계를 중심으로 서로의 상처를 보듬어 주며 자아의 성장을 향해 함께 나아간다.

앨범은 여름의 이별로 이야기가 시작된다. (1번 트랙 '이별발자국') 여름은 이별을 마주하는 시간을 보낸다. (2번 트랙 '남쪽 바람이 불면') 달은 인도에 다녀온 여름을 서울의 어느 한 카페에서 만나 그녀의 이야기를 듣는다. (3번 트랙 '여름눈') 달은 여름에게 현재 자신의 연애에 대해 말한다. (4번, 5번, 트랙 '키스는 성북동 언덕에서'와 '내 남자친구는') 달은 지금의 관계와 감정이 가능한 오래 지속될 수 있기를 바란다. (6번 트랙 'SUNBED') 얼마의 시간이 지나고 달에게도 이별의 시간이 찾아왔다. 달은 스스로를 돌아보는 시간을 가진다. (7번 트랙 '밤의 우편물') 여름이 달의 소식을 듣고 그녀를 생각한다. (11번 트랙 '따뜻한 마음') 각자의 슬픔의 색이 바래졌을 즈음, 여름과 달은 다가올 새로운 봄을 기대하며 이야기는 마무리된다.

여름과 달은 친구, 애인, 지인, 동료들의 이야기로부터 탄생된 가상의 인물들이다. 서울이란 대도시의 삶에서 그녀들이 겪은 공통된 경험에 집중하여 이야기를 만들었다. 앨범을 들은 이들이 누구를 떠올리게 될지. 또 여름과 달 중 어느 인물에게 이입이 될지 궁금하다.

이 앨범을 듣는 이들이 '그래도 살아가겠지'란 체념의 시간보다, 지나간 이름들에게 기꺼이 안녕을 바랄 수 있는 단단한 순간들을 살아가길 바라며.
