EP [My Century]

Thornapple's new EP [My Century] is a spectacular success or
It does not talk about an excited flight.

Even though they are clearly going through the hottest cheers and most intense moments as a band
Instead, I chose to calmly look at the sensation of drawing near to the end of my own time.

An attitude of calmly reflecting on the end amidst countless eyes and intense passion.
This kind of stubbornness is exactly what defines Thornapple, who built their own castle using sensations such as solitude, anxiety, madness, and survival as their foundation.

The tracks form a massive flow that interlocks the senses of anxiety and decay, extinction and regeneration.

Starting with 'Night Glow,' a poignant sentiment of trying to hold onto a fading existence at all costs,
'Theory of Decline' follows, capturing the fading of things that seemed eternal with a strangely refreshing clarity.
These uneasy warmths eventually explode violently within 'Sea, Clouds, and Stage,' which speaks of life and graves and shakes the entire space.
In this moment of overturning the inner world and erasing oneself, the cycle of life and death is most clearly revealed: that you begin right where I ended.
The following 'Acacia' is wrapped in smooth brass and sophisticated rhythms, but within it lies a strange silence that closes the eyes and shuts the mouth, and a sense of resignation that seems to have dulled all senses.
The final chapter, 'Planetarium,' features a performance that races uninhibitedly as if knowing the predetermined end of the stage, and
Through vocals soaring to their limits, it finally extends powerfully toward the wider outside and the next century.

Thus, [My Century] stands on a world that has put a period on itself,
It brings the curtain down by generously opening up the time that will follow.

Thornapple, in the place where their time has passed,
I might be hoping that someone else's time will bloom anew.

It is not that difficult to enjoy their century.
There is no need to measure or detoxify the depth of the wounds they have inflicted.
It is enough to simply listen quietly to the cool warmth flowing out.

EP [나의 세기]

쏜애플의 새 EP [나의 세기]는 화려한 성공이나
들뜬 비상을 이야기하지 않는다.

이들은 분명 밴드로서 가장 뜨거운 환호와 밀도 높은 순간을 지나고 있음에도
오히려 스스로의 시간과 끝에 가까워진 감각을 담담히 바라보는 쪽을 택했다.

수많은 시선과 열기의 중심에서 도리어 차분하게 마지막을 떠올리는 태도.
이런 고집이야말로 고독과 불안, 광기와 생존 같은 감각들을 밑천 삼아 자신들의 성을 쌓아 올린 쏜애플다운 모습일 것이다.

수록곡들은 불안과 쇠퇴, 소멸과 재생의 감각을 서로 맞물리게 쌓아 올린 거대한 흐름으로 이어진다.

희미해지는 존재를 어떻게든 붙잡아두려는 처연한 정서의 '야광'을 시작으로,
영원할 것 같던 것들이 저물어가는 모습을 이상하리만치 청량하게 담아낸 '쇠퇴론'이 이어진다.
이 불안한 온기들은 이윽고 목숨과 무덤을 이야기하며 공간 전체를 뒤흔드는 '바다와 구름과 무대' 속에서 격렬하게 폭발한다.
내면의 세계를 뒤엎고 스스로를 지워내는 이 순간, 내가 끝난 바로 그 자리에서 네가 시작된다는 생과 사의 순환이 가장 선명하게 드러난다.
이어지는 '아카시아'는 매끄러운 브라스와 세련된 리듬을 두르고 있지만, 그 내부에서는 도리어 눈을 감고 입을 닫아버리는 기묘한 침묵과 모든 감각이 무뎌져 버린 듯한 체념이 가라앉아 있다.
최종장 '플라네타리움'은 이미 정해진 무대의 끝을 알고 있다는 듯 거침없이 질주하는 연주와
한계치까지 치솟는 가성을 통해, 마침내 더 넓은 바깥과 다음 세기를 향해 힘 있게 뻗어 나간다.

그렇게 [나의 세기]는 스스로 마침표를 찍은 세계 위에서,
이어질 또 다른 시간을 아낌없이 열어 보이며 막을 내린다.

쏜애플은 자신들의 시간이 지나간 자리에서,
또 다른 누군가의 시간이 새롭게 피어나기를 바라고 있는지도 모르겠다.

이들의 세기를 즐기는 방법은 그리 어렵지 않다.
그들이 심어놓은 상처의 깊이를 굳이 자로 재거나 해독할 필요도 없다.
그저 흘러나오는 서늘한 온기에 가만히 귀를 기울이는 것만으로도 충분하다.
