An ambitious debut from Yan Kim, a rising star in the Korean jazz scene.

This is a rare domestic piano trio album in the New York Straight Ahead Jazz style, featuring bassist Jin-kyo Park, a mainstay of Korean traditional jazz, and drummer Joe Farnsworth, a master of New York traditional jazz.

Yan Kim's interpretations of jazz standards are grounded in jazz traditions while still conveying his own distinct sound, while his original compositions demonstrate his perspective on jazz as an artist living in the 21st century, rather than simply admiring the golden age of 20th century jazz.

Although this is his debut album, he has already presented a complete sound, but he will continue to pursue the mainstream and tradition of jazz through his future activities.
We can expect that he will become an artist who does not stop at just copying, but builds his own deeper and stronger identity based on it.

한국 정통 재즈의 대들보 같은 베이시스트 박진교와 뉴욕 정통 재즈의 거장 드러머 Joe Farnsworth가 참여한 뉴욕 Straight Ahead Jazz 스타일의 국내에선 흔치 않은 피아노 트리오 앨범이다.

Yan Kim의 재즈 스탠다드 곡들에 대한 해석은 재즈 트레디션에 기초하면서도 자신의 사운드가 뚜렷하게 들려지며, 그의 자작곡들은 그가 단순히 20세기 재즈의 황금기를 동경하는 데 그치지 않고 21세기를 살아가는 예술가로서 자신이 바라보든 재즈에 대한 관점이 무엇인지를 보여준다.

그는 데뷔 앨범임에도 이미 완성형 사운드를 들려주지만, 앞으로 그의 활동을 통해 자신이 추구하는 재즈의 본류, 전통을
